Suffolk police appeal to road traffic collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision.

The emergency services were called at approximately 7pm last night to reports that a Suzuki motorcycle had collided with a tree along the B1079, Otley Road at Helmingham.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 28 year old man from Ipswich, was taken to Ipswich Hospital where he was later died.

The road was closed whilst officers carried out an accident investigation at the scene. The road reopened at 1.45am this morning.

Guns and rifle stolen during burglaries

Police are searching for thieves who stole firearms at two separate burglaries in Suffolk.

The first theft happened in New Road in Helmingham at around 2:30pm on Friday 22nd March. Thieves broke in through a ground floor window stealing five shotguns and a rifle.

Police would like to speak to three people who were seen getting into a grey VW van in the area at the time.

The second burglary took place later that day in Brookfields Close in Newmarket. Two shotguns were stolen from a gun cabinet.
