Illegal hare coursers drive into landowner

A Suffolk man's been injured after hare coursers allegedly drove a car into him on purpose at Hitcham near Stowmarket.

When the landowner, a man in his 60's, confronted them, they are believed to have driven at him, leaving the man with an injured back and a cut hand. He is being treated at West Suffolk Hospital.

Police say the offenders also tried to drive at a woman, though missed her, and drove their vehicle into the victims' car before leaving in the direction of Preston St Mary. Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen the car, which is described as a blue 'T' reg Subaru.

Thatch fire

About seventy firefighters have spent the night tackling a fire at a thatched cottage in Suffolk.

They were called to Hitcham around 11pm last night.

The B1115 Hitcham causeway had to be closed for most of the night whilst crews battled the fire but the road has since reopened.
