Essex County Council's cabinet has agreed plans to invest £115 million to support infrastructure projects for economic growth across the county.
It's expected they will attract a further £350 million in central government funding when they are submitted at the end of the month.
The plan includes cash for Colchester Town Centre and improvements to major strategic roads including A12 corridor, A120, A133, A127, M11, A414.
Also set to benefit is Basildon Town Centre with money for regeneration.
