The Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has revealed in a Tweet that he will be out of the game for three months because of injury. Ruddy will have an operation on a torn thigh on Saturday.

In his message to fan Ruddy says on Twitter: "Just to update everyone on my injury, unfortunately I have torn my thigh will be having surgery on Saturday and out for up to 3 months, :("

Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has made his England debut.

He came on for the second half of the friendly against Italy last night, which England won.

They were 1-0 down in the first half and Ruddy produced a couple of good saves to keep the Azzuri at bay.

He kept a clean sheet in his first 45 minutes in an England shirt and goals from Phil Jagielka and Jermain Defoe ensured a 2-1 win for Roy Hodgson's men.

Norwich City goalkeeper, John Ruddy is expected to make his England debut tonight as Roy Hodgson's men take on Italy in a friendly in Switzerland.

England exited Euro 2012 after they lost on penalties to tonight's opponents just seven weeks ago.

John Ruddy was not part of the England squad that day. He was forced to return home after breaking his finger during training in the run-up to the tournament.

With number one goalkeeper Joe Hart out of contention and manager Roy Hodgson expected to give fringe players a run-out, Ruddy will almost certainly play a part as England try to avenge that Euro 2012 defeat.

The game will be shown on ITV1 tonight, kick-off is at 8.00pm.

John Ruddy has been given another chance to impress at international level after being named in the the England squad to face Italy.

The Norwich 'keeper was named in this summer's European Championship squad for Ukraine and Poland, but was forced to quit the squad through injury.

The national side take on the Italians in Switzerland next week.

Heartbreak as John Ruddy ruled out of European Championships

The FA have confirmed that Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has broken his finger and has been ruled out of Euro 2012. The injury happened in training yesterday. Ruddy was assessed by the England medical staff and will not be able to be part of the tournament.

Ruddy will travel with the squad to Norway on Friday and watch the game on Saturday evening, but return to Norwich, after arriving back in England.Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland, who was previously on the standby list, will join up next week.
