Normal service has now resumed on Greater Anglia services after over-running engineering works caused disruption.

Weekend engineering works between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street were not completed on time which meant that all four lines were not available until around 7:30. This restricted the number of trains which were able to run through the area.

A Greater Anglia spokesperson said:

"We're very sorry for the disruption that affected train services to and from London Liverpool Street this morning, following overrunning engineering work and a problem with the overhead power lines at Ilford.

We worked to restore services as quickly as possible and we would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience these delays caused. We are working closely with Network Rail to investigate the cause of this morning's disruption."

Passengers can claim compensation for any delays which are longer than 30 minutes.
