Normal service has now resumed on Greater Anglia services after over-running engineering works caused disruption.
Weekend engineering works between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street were not completed on time which meant that all four lines were not available until around 7:30. This restricted the number of trains which were able to run through the area.
A Greater Anglia spokesperson said:
"We're very sorry for the disruption that affected train services to and from London Liverpool Street this morning, following overrunning engineering work and a problem with the overhead power lines at Ilford.
We worked to restore services as quickly as possible and we would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience these delays caused. We are working closely with Network Rail to investigate the cause of this morning's disruption."
Passengers can claim compensation for any delays which are longer than 30 minutes.
Network Rail is reporting that signalling problems are causing 30 minute delays to train services between Stratford and London Liverpool Street.
There are also buses replacing trains on the line between Manningtree and Harwich.
Delays of up to 20 minutes on Greater Anglia trains between Cheshunt and Liverpool Street, and between Cheshunt and Stratford due to earlier overhead line problems at Northumberland Park.
Delays of up to 20 minutes on Greater Anglia between Cambridge and Liverpool Street due to broken down train at Audley End.
Delays of up to 40 minutes on Greater Anglia services between Liverpool Street and Shenfield due to an earlier broken down train between Forest Gate and Manor Park.
Tickets are being accepted on local buses, London Underground and c2c services
Some train services are being suspended as a result of overhead wire damage in the Stratfordarea, according to Greater Anglia.
