Two men have denied the murder of a pensioner near Ely in a suspected botched burglary. Llywelyn Thomas, 76, was discovered at his home in Ely Road, Chittering, Cambridgeshire, on December 18th, 2011. He was last seen alive the previous evening.
Frankie Parker, 25, of Nene Road, Ely, and Gary Smith, 20, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey to the murder of Mr Thomas.
Earlier, at the same court, a third man, John Smith, 66, of Wold Gate, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, denied assisting an offender.
Parker and Gary Smith were remanded in custody, while John Smith was granted conditional bail.
The judge, Mr Justice Singh, said there will be hearing for the case at the Old Bailey on May 24, and the trial is due to start at Cambridge Crown Court on July 1.
