Thousands of runners from across our region are heading into the capital for the annual London Marathon. There are nearly 40,000 runners taking part today, including Amy Childs from the ITV reality show The Only Way is Essex.
Many will be travelling from the Anglia region to run the 26.2-mile course. After the events at the Boston Marathon, organisers are hoping runners and spectators will be out in force to show their solidarity.
Runners across the region are gearing up for this weekend's London Marathon.
Among them is 85 year old Iva Barr from Bedford who will be the oldest female athlete competing in the race.
It will be her 15th marathon and she says she loves every minute!
Runners across the region are gearing up for the London Marathon next weekend.
Amongst them will be 85 year old Iva Barr from Bedford who will be the oldest female taking part in the race.
It will be her 15th time she will have taken on the 26.2 mile run. She completed her first marathon back in 1982. She says she loves running and still belongs to the Bedford Harriers.
Norfolk born shadow chancellor Ed Balls is also taking part. He says Iva is an inspiration to others in the race.
