Essex school caters to museum

A school in Essex has outsourced its catering team to help run a tea room in a museum.

The Plume School in Maldon is working with the Steam Pump Tea Room located in the Museum of Power in Langford. Catering students will be able to get work experience in customer service and it's created two jobs.

Flood warning lifted

The Environment Agency has lifted a flood warning for Maldon town waterfront and the Hythe in Essex.

It says no further flooding is expected in the area, but that people should be careful of any left-over flood water which could be contaminated.


Health and safety charge for leisure firm

The Health and Safety Executive has charged a company which runs an Essex swimming pool over the death of a young girl.

Michelle Gellard, 7, died at the Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon four years ago. An inquest ruled last year that she died as the result of an accident.

The pool is run by a company called Leisure Connection which is due before Chelmsford Magistrates next month charged with breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act.

Driver charged following fatal road crash in Essex

A man has been charged with three offences following a fatal road collision near Maldon. 59-year-old Robert Barnard, died in the crash at Maldon Road, Goldhanger on Friday September 9, 2011.

A 33-year-old lorry driver from Forest Gate, east London has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by careless driving while unfit through drugs and also with possessing a Class B drug. He was bailed to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on August 15.
