Flood warning lifted

The Environment Agency has lifted a flood warning for Maldon town waterfront and the Hythe in Essex.

It says no further flooding is expected in the area, but that people should be careful of any left-over flood water which could be contaminated.

Health and safety charge for leisure firm

The Health and Safety Executive has charged a company which runs an Essex swimming pool over the death of a young girl.

Michelle Gellard, 7, died at the Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon four years ago. An inquest ruled last year that she died as the result of an accident.

The pool is run by a company called Leisure Connection which is due before Chelmsford Magistrates next month charged with breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act.
