Man arrested on suspicion of rape of teenager

Detectives investigating the rape of a teenage girl in Essex have arrested a 26-year-old man from Cambridge.

The attack took place inside a property off Godmans Lane in Marks Tey on the 12th June.

Further enquiries by police established there had been some prior contact between the victim and the man believed to be responsible for the assault.

The 17-year-old victim is now being supported by specialist officers.

Woman dies after struck by car on A12

A woman has died after she was struck by a car on the A12, near Marks Tey, Essex.

The woman, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene after she was hit by a white Toyota Auris at around 1am Saturday.

The driver of the car, a 44-year-old woman, from Marks Tey, was treated for shock by paramedics.

A police spokesman said: "We believe the woman walked off from a Seat Ibiza she had been travelling in.

"Its driver had stopped in a layby. We're looking to speak with those motorists who saw this woman on the side of the A12 or actually in the road."

A section of the carriageway was closed until 8am while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.
