A rare model of a Chinese boat, which was expected to fetch up to £8,000 at auction in Essex, has failed to sell.
The two foot high ivory model had been collecting dust in the attic of a house for thirty years before going under the hammer at the Sworders' Stansted Mountfitchet auction rooms yesterday.
The owner, from north Essex, only realised how much it was worth when it was valued by experts.
