Man jailed for knife-point burglary

A man who burgled and attacked an elderly couple at knife point in their home has been sentenced at Norwich Crown Court to more than seven years in prison.

39-year-old Allen Turner, of Pettus Road in Norwich, and another man forced their way into the house off Heath Road in Hockering, near Dereham, on the evening of the 5th of February.

£10,000 in cash, as well family ashes and other sentimental items were stolen during the burglary. Norfolk Police are still trying to trace the second man, and appealing for anyone with more information to come forward.

Former boxer warned he faces prison sentence

The former world heavyweight boxing champion Herbie Hide has been warned he faces jail, after pleading guilty to a drugs charge.

The 42-year-old, from Bawburgh near Norwich, was arrested earlier this year after being caught up in a sting organised by a tabloid newspaper.

Today, the former boxer changed his plea from not guilty to guilty at the start of his trial at Norwich Crown Court.

The judge warned him he faced two years in prison.

Former boxing world champion Herbie Hide has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine at the start of a trial at Norwich Crown Court.

The 42-year-old, who lives at Bawburgh, near Norwich, had previously denied the charges.

He has been released on bail.

Hide will be sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on November 29.

Until then, he will have to report daily to Norwich police station.

Former boxing world champion Herbie Hide has arrived at court this morning where he is due to go on trial over alleged drugs offences.

The 41-year-old, from Bawburgh, near Norwich, is charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine.

He has previously denied the allegations.

Hide arrived at Norwich Crown Court earlier today.


Jury due to retire in former presenter's court case

The jury in the case of a former Radio Norfolk presenter accused of 19 counts of historic child sex abuse is due to retire today to consider its verdict.

Michael Souter, from Loddon, denies the charges which relate to boys aged between 11 and 16.

He also denies nine counts of making and possessing indecent images.

The case is being heard at Norwich Crown Court.
