Essex Police are investigating an early morning collision in which a cyclist was killed in South Woodham Ferrers.
Emergency services were called just after 4am following reports of a collision involving a car and a cyclist at the roundabout junction of Burnham Road, Ferrers Road and Willow Grove.
The cyclist died at the scene. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Burnham Road was closed during rush hour while officers carried out initial investigations.
A132 Burnham Road in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between A130 / Woodham Road / A1245 (Rettendon Turnpike) and B1012 Burnham Road / Willow Grove / Ferrers Road.

Darren Sapstead, from South Woodham Ferrers, was accused of pushing Garry Walton from Ireland overboard in 1996.

A man from Essex who's been cleared of drowning a fellow passenger on a booze cruise in Tenerife nearly 17 years ago has been telling ITV News Anglia about how it's affected his life.
Darren Sapstead, from South Woodham Ferrers, was accused of pushing Garry Walton from Ireland overboard. The case was originally treated as an accident but in 2005 Mr Sapstead was extradited to Spain.
Mr Sapstead was extradited in 2005 and spent 8 months in jail in Spain before returning home on bail. Last week he was acquitted by a jury.
