Plans have been submitted by Essex jam maker Wilkin and Sons for a brand new factory and more than 200 new homes.
The Tiptree-based manufacturer wants to eventually create a new 13,000 square foot factory complex in the village.
The company says it will help them increase capacity and allow them to stay in the village until at least 2030. The plans also include building 244 new homes, allotments, and the Factory Hall to be handed to Tiptree Parish Council.
A consultation starts today over plans to build nearly 250 homes and a new jam factory in Tiptree.
Wilkin and Sons want to sell some of its land to housing developers to help fund a £250 million factory near its current base.
Tiptree's existing factory site and nearby fields would be turned into homes if planning permission is granted.
Essex snooker player Ali Carter's bid to become World Champion has once again been ended by Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final in Sheffield.
