Memorial Hall fire treated as arson

A fire at the Memorial Hall in Trimley St Martin near Felixstowe is being treated as arson.

Police were called to the High Road area just before 1am on Wednesday June 19 by a resident who saw smoke coming out of the roof.

An investigation has found the fire was caused by someone setting alight a wheelie bin filled with empty paint tins at the side of the building.

The roof has been destroyed. There is extensive heat and smoke damage inside.

The fire is being linked to another that happened at the nearby Three Mariners Inn on June 17.

Suffolk Police are asking for anyone who was in the area around 12:30am to contact them.
