Shirt 15 for Mings

Ipswich Town's new recruit Tyrone Mings has signed an 18 month contract, and has been handed the number 15 shirt.

Mings was at the Southampton Academy between the ages of 8 and 15 when he played alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is now at Arsenal. More recently Mings played for Yate Town and Chippenham Town in the Southern League.

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy said 'He's quick, he's 6 foot 3 inches, he loves a tackle. He's only 19 but plays the game like a bloke. He's a good talker, organises, and we're delighted to have him'.

Ipswich Town have completed the signing of defender Tyrone Mings from non league club Chippenham Town.

The 19 year old former Southampton trainee, who's 6’3” is equally capable of playing as a left-back or at centre-half

Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed his interest in the defender at his pre-match news conference ahead of the their trip to Leeds United. He'd watched Mings during a friendly with the Nike U21 team on Monday.
