£4m to improve Suffolk rail services
Work has started on a £4 million scheme which will allow more trains to run between Ipswich and Lowestoft.
At present a section of single track between Halesworth and Oulton Broad mean trains cannot pass each other for more than 16 miles slowing down services.
Now a disused platform at Beccles station wil be used to build a passing loop halving the turnaround time and allowing trains to run hourly.
