Oakes murder trial continues

Jurors in the trial of David Oakes have been told they may consider a manslaughter verdict only if they find him not guilty of murder.

Oakes, 50, is accused of murdering his former partner Christine Chambers and their two-year-old daughter Shania in Braintree.

The jury at Chelmsford Crown Court is expected to retire to consider its verdict today.

Oakes denies murder.
