Youngsters race for F1 chance

Fifty young people are in the final stretch in the race to grab an opportunity to work with F1 world champions Red Bull.They are battling for one of five internships in five key areas of the business.

The month long schemes are in aerodynamics, electronics, marketing, IT and procurement.

Milton Keynes-based Red Bull were keen to open the opportunities to anyone aged 16 or over, regardless of experience.

Team Principal Christian Horner spent today interviewing the final fifty candidates, and said working in Formula One is more than just a job.

"The attributes we are looking for are geared to working as a team. We believe this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the individualsto demonstrate their potential and learn valuable skills. "

Around a hundred thousand candidates took an on-line test for skills ranging from mental arithmetic to reaction times.

Those applications were whittled down over the last few weeks to just fifty, from which the final five will be chosen.

The internships will run over July and August this year.
