Suffolk Police has issued an e-fit of a man who impersonated a police officer in Mildenhall in an apparent internet scam.
The man attempted to obtain cash from a woman by claiming she had been looking at pornographic websites and needed to pay a fine.
He attended the address of a 20-year-old woman on Woodlands Way on Thursday 19 July after an internet pop-up appeared on her laptop that appeared to be from the Metropolitan police.
The pop-up ordered her to pay a £100 fine for looking at pornography or her computer would be ‘locked’.
The victim called a number provided and refused to pay the fine. A man claiming to be a police officer appeared at her home address the following day.
Calls with information can be made to DC Sarah Shepperson on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
