A major British-based charity has launched its first campaign to help children in the UK. Save the Children said Britain's poorest youngsters were bearing the greatest burden of the recession

Tackling child poverty in the East

New charity figures that have revealed that a quarter of the children in the East of England are living in poverty. A report from the Save the Children charity says 25% of children - which amounts to 300,000 individuals - have to go without basics like new clothes and shoes for school.

Their parents are even going hungry or using foodbanks to make sure their fed.
