Shocking figures on dumped dogs

A leading charity is urging the government to consider compulsory microchipping for dogs after statistics revealed an alarming number of pets were abandoned in the East.

The Dogs Trust says more than seven and a half thousand stray dogs were found in this region alone last year - that's nearly double the figure of 2008.
