Soldier killed in Afghanistan

A soldier from the Light Dragoons, who are based at Robertson Barracks in Swanton Morley, Norfolk has been killed in Afghanistan.

He died yesterday (9 september) when the vehicle he was travelling in hit an improvised explosive device. His family have been informed.

"I have the sad duty to inform you that a soldier from The Light Dragoons has died as a result of wounds sustained while on duty in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand Province.

"The thoughts and prayers of everyone serving in Task Force Helmand are extended to his family and friends at this extremely difficult time."
