The inquest of a school girl who died after being hit by a rugby ball found she died of natural causes.
The inquest heard Leonie Nice, 12, suffered from a degenerative heart condition Arrhymogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, which made her susceptible to irregular heart beats.
The inquest at New Bridge House, Chelmsford, heard the condition meant that Leonie could have died suddenly at any time from the condition.
The coroner said the fact Leonie died after being struck in the stomach by a rugby ball during a PE lesson at Woodlands school in Basildon was a coincidence.
Present during the hearing was the girl's grandparents and mother as well as teachers from the school who tried to give her first aid.
Leonie died on March 13.
