Police officer admits careless driving

A constable who crashed a police car in Essex while responding to an emergency has admitted careless driving. PC Ian Thompson, 31, jumped a red light and collided with a taxi in Basildon last year.

Reece Clarke, a special constable who was a passenger in the car, was left with brain damage. PC Thompson was fined £250 and had three penalty points put on his licence.
