Gore backs Cambridge
Former US Vice President Al Gore has appealed to science chiefs to abandon plans to merge the Cambridge-based British Antarctic Survey with another research organisation.
The climate change campaigner has written to the National Environment Research Council, the group behind the proposals, saying the polar research centre needs to remain a strong, single unit.
