Colchester United legend Peter Wright has died at the age of 78 after a long battle with illness.
He played more than 450 times for Colchester in the 1950s and 1960s and was voted the club's Player of the Century in a poll in 2000.
Later in life he was a regular at Layer Road and the Weston Homes Community Stadium and Chairman of the club's Former Players' Association.
