Attempts to refloat barge fail
Engineers have failed in their attempt to re-float a narrow boat which sank in the River Nene in Northamptonshire last week.
The boat was swept into a sluice next to Ditchford Lock near Wellingborough and then sank. River Canal Rescue workers had hoped to pump out the water and float it again but they could not move it.
They say the operation was made more difficult by the bad weather conditions, including heavy rain, and that they will try again to rescue the boat when the weather improves.
