A double murderer from Essex has failed in his bid to overturn sentences which would see him die in prison.

51-year-old David Oakes was jailed in May for torturing his former partner before shooting her and their 2-year-old daughter at their home in Braintree.

He was told he will never be released from prison. Oakes had sought to overturn his Whole Life order which means he can never apply for release on parole.
