Thursday weather update

Becoming increasingly windy, with gales developing in places. It will also become more cloudy later in the day but stay mostly dry. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Overnight rain will spread in from the west, reaching all parts by midnight. Winds beginning to ease. Perhaps becoming drier in northwestern parts later in the night. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain, heavy at first, will slowly clear away southeastwards during the day. It will remain generally rather cloudy, but perhaps brighter in the north later. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

The Met Office has issued a warning that more wet and windy weather at the weekend could lead to flooding in parts of the region.
