Figures out today show all counties across the region are beating new Government targets for standards in Maths and English.

But we're still not doing as well as other parts of the country. Nationally 79% of children reach those standards by the time they leave primary school.

Here schools in Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes, Cambridgeshire and Essex all achieve that or better - but children elsewhere still aren't reaching average standards of numeracy and literacy.
