Essex Fire Service have had to rescue several motorists who have ignored warning signs and driven into floods. One driver called to say he was stuck just past a road closure sign!
Throughout the weekend, firefighters have been urging motorists to use common sense and not put themselves in danger by driving through flooded roads. Last night seven people had to be rescued from two vehicles in Margaretting. Others have been rescued at Orphans Hill and Dunmow.
The Fire Service say they handled dozens of similar calls during Christmas Day.
With further rain forecast in the Anglia region it's likely there will be further problems with flooding into the New Year.
With many rivers running high, a number of Flood Warnings issued by the Environment Agency remain in force in the Anglia region.
More heavy rainfall could result in flooding in Northamptonshire over the Christmas and New Year period.
