Areas in the East have been advised to take precautions against flooding over the Christmas and New Year period.

Latest flood warnings in the Anglia region

The Environment Agency still has 17 Flood Warnings in force across the Anglia region as more rain is forecast over the next few days.

There are also 51 of the lower level Flood Alerts in place across the region.

The maps below show that the worst affected areas are Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Essex.

Early indications suggest that 2012 could be the wettest on record in East Anglia following on from 2011 which was the driest year since 1921.
