Sales struggling to entice shoppers

Shoppers in the region say the post Christmas sales seem quieter than in previous years.Retailers usually offer big savings after Boxing Day but fewer people seem to be looking to spend in tough economic conditions.

The Prime Minister David Cameron admitted the last year had been tough but insisted austerity measures are working. In Cambridge yesterday the City Centre was busy but not packed. Businesses there described trading as acceptable rather than exceptional.
