Whipsnade Zoo begins animal count

Keepers are counting more than 2,500 animals at Whipsnade Zoo including invertebrates, birds, fish, mammal, reptiles, and amphibians.

The count is required as part of the zoo's license, and all of the information is logged into the International Species Information System where it is used to manage international breeding programmes for endangered animals.
