Police in Haverhill are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man assaulted a woman with a piece of glass and bleach.
The 18-year-old woman was walking along Leather Lane at approximately 9.45am yesterday, when a man approached her from behind and tugged on her handbag.
The man produced a shard of glass and pushed it against her neck and stomach causing small scratch marks.
He also took a bottle from a bag and squirted a liquid, believed to be bleach into her mouth.
The man was then disturbed by a noise behind him and the woman managed to run home.
The woman was seen by her doctor but will not be requiring any further medical attention.
The man's described as white, 40 - 50 years old, 6ft tall, slim, with short dark curly hair.
