2003: Joined the Leeds academy at the age of 14.
2005: Joined England's national junior academy, where he was coached by Brian Ashton and he represented England at Under-16 and Under-18 level.
2007: September 30 - Became the youngest forward to appear in the Premiership when he played for Leeds against Saracens.
2008: Won a call-up to the England Under-20s and was sent off in the final of the Junior World Championship against New Zealand for head-butting an opponent.
2010: Signed for Northampton and captained the team, aged just 21, in an LV= Cup match against Saracens.
2011: Named Northampton's young player of the season after making more appearances than any other Saints player, including a start in the Heineken Cup final.
2012: January - Named in Stuart Lancaster's first senior England squad.
March - Banned for 32 weeks for breaking the elbow of Leicester hooker Rob Hawkins in the LV= Cup final.
2013: January 9 - Recalled to England's Elite Performance Squad for the RBS 6 Nations.
