Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 16-year-old schoolboy was the victim of a serious assault as he made his way home from school.
It happened at around 3.10pm on Friday January 11 as the youngster was walking with friends along Tithe Barn Road in Wootton in Bedfordshire.
The men approached the victim with one offender punching him to the floor before all three began punching, kicking and stamping on the victim as he tried to protect himself. After the assault the three men got into a dark blue vehicle – possibly a Vauxhall – removed the number plates and drove away.
As a result of the attack, the victim temporarily lost the sight in his left eye, suffered a rupture to the blood vessels behind his eye, tore a muscle in his rib and had extensive bruising and swelling to his head and back. All three offenders were white males and aged in their mid 20s.
– Detective Constable Richard Cunningham
“This was a savage and brutal attack on a young man which was committed in broad daylight as the victim made his way home from school. It is imperative that we find these offenders as quickly as possible to stop any further attacks.
“I’d urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us to come forward to help us with our investigation. Don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on.”
