MP calls for crackdown on burglary

The Conservative MP for Kettering Peter Hollobone has called on the authorities to collect data on repeat burglary offenders to help crackdown on the crime.

In 2011/12 there was 227 convictions for burglary in Northamptonshire which was a conviction rate of 89%.

Mr Hollobone was questioning the Solicitor General Oliver Heald in the House of Commons.

He asked:

"How many successful prosecutions were carried out by the Crown Prosecution Service for burglary in Northamptonshire in the latest year for which figures are available where the defendant had (a) previously been convicted for at least one other criminal offence and (b) no previous convictions."
