A housing row is brewing between a local MP and council in Cambridgeshire. ITV News Anglia has received an email from the MP for Peterborough claiming that the city council was in secret talks with Kensington and Chelsea in London to help house those on the waiting list in the Royal Borough.
Under the scheme Peterborough would get a fee for building homes for those on the housing waiting list in the London Borough.
Stewart Jackson MP has described the idea as "social cleansing'.
In a statement, Peterborough City Council said "The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea could potentially buy land in Peterborough to build homes for... young families who cannot afford to rent or buy in the capital."
