Two in hospital after 'vicious' Bedford robbery

A man and a woman were beaten with a baseball bat during a robbery in Bedford on Monday night.

The armed robber, who was wearing a balaclava, broke into a house in Skerne Passage, Brickhill, at around 9.30pm.

He struck a 23-year-old woman on the head and she suffered significant blood loss. He then hit a 28-year-old man. Both victims have been taken to hospital.

The offender was described as a black man, around 6ft 2ins tall. He stole a distinctive pink Rolex watch worth £2,200 before fleeing.

Detective Constable Mike Armstrong said: “This was a vicious attack which left two people in need of hospital treatment to some very nasty injuries."
