Police investigating the murder of Corby murder victim David 'Les' Ross have revealed new information in connection with the case.
Detectives say a member of the public challenged a number of youths in Chelveston Drive outside Mr Ross's home.
The burglary occurred between 10pm and midnight on the evening of Friday 14 December last year, three days before the body of Mr Ross was discovered at the Village Inn Express hotel in the town.
It is thought the member of the public challenged the youths late that same evening.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Kinchin said: "We have received information that a man was heard challenging a number of youths in the street outside Les's home around the time of the burglary.
"This man has not come forward, so we can not say why he was challenging the youths."
Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police's murder incident room on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
