Unemployment in the East of England has fallen by 9,000 to 207,000 in the latest figures released by the Office of National Statistics. The trend is bucking the national picture which shows a rise of 7,000 in the number of people out of work to 2.516 million.
In the East Midlands, which covers Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire, unemployment is down by 7,000 to 178,000.
The latest figures compare the three months to January 2013 to the previous quarter. Year-on-year unemployment is down 3,000 in the East of England and down 10,000 in the East Midlands.
