A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Bury St Edmunds.
The 55-year-old man from the Bury St Edmunds area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being questioned at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
Police were called by the ambulance service just before 9am with a report that a woman had been found collapsed in the St Edmunds Tavern public house car park in Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds.
The woman, believed to be in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two areas in Risbygate Street were cordoned off, one at the scene where the woman’s body was found and one further along Risbygate Street where blood was found.
A post mortem examination is due to take place this afternoon, to try to ascertain the cause of death and the Coroner has been informed.
