A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the discovery of a woman’s body in Bury St Edmunds this morning.
Police were called by the ambulance service at just before 9am to a report that a woman had collapsed in the St Edmunds Tavern public house car park in Risbygate Street.
The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
This afternoon a 55-year-old man from the Bury St Edmunds area was arrested on suspicion of murder. This evening a second man, aged 59 and also from the Bury St Edmunds area, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Both are currently being held in custody at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Two areas in Risbygate Street were cordoned off, one at the scene where the woman’s body was found and one further along Risbygate Street where blood was found.
