Suffolk murderer loses prison search case

James Dowsett claimed male prisoner should have the right to object to searches by female prison officers

A male prisoner convicted of a Suffolk murder, who says "rub down" searches by female prison officers are embarrassing, has lost a High Court human rights fight.

James Dowsett argued that male prisoners should have the right to object.

Dowsett was convicted of murdering his business partner Christopher Nugent at Mildenhall in 1989. The judge said Dowsett was articulate and persistent in making complaints but there was no substance to his claim that he had a genuine objection.
