An investigation will continue this morning into the cause of crash which blocked the southbound carriageway of the M25 in Essex.

The accident, involving three lorries and five cars, happened near the Lakeside exit. One person was killed, and four people were taken to hospital, another was airlifted to hospital in London with life threatening injuries.

Two adults and a child were taken to Basildon Hospital. Their injuries were not as serious. Police have arrested two lorry drivers.
