The Festival Wakeboard Park in Basildon was built two years ago to encourage youngsters to get involved in sport. Since then 145 people have taken up wakeboarding at the park.
It is part of the Sportivate project, giving young people courses in various sports for free or at discounted rates. Today it was announced an extra £24 million worth of funding would be given to extend the project until 2017.
