Four badgers have been found poisoned in a sett in Saffron Walden, Essex. Three of the animals died.
Essex Police Wildlife Crime Officer Andy Long said an investigation was underway:
"Badgers are a protected species and it is an offence to kill them and also interfere with badger setts. It is also an offence to lay any poison on any land.
We also want to hear from anyone who might have seen any suspicious activity on roads in that area or from anyone who might have seen items being thrown from vehicles or left at the roadside.
