Andrew Walker from Norwich has been jailed for three years after being convicted of rape.
Detective Inspector Ross McDermott of Norfolk Constabulary's Rape Investigation Unit, said:
Walker was arrested in May 2012 when he returned to the UK after a short period abroad.
Despite the offence having taken place nearly three years ago, a meticulous investigation has enabled this offender to be brought to justice.
"Hopefully the verdict will give other victims of previously undisclosed similar crimes, the confidence to come forward and report matters to us.
"They can be safe in the knowledge that we will fight relentlessly for the truth and for justice not just for the victim, but also for the safety and protection of the wider public.”
