May Gurney subject to takeover bid

The Norwich based road and rail maintenance company May Gurney is the subject of a £221 million takeover bid.

May Gurney was founded in 1926, and currently employs nearly 6,000 people.

The new offer from construction firm Kier trumps a rival bid made last week by Costain.

If Kier's bid is successful the new company would have an order book worth £5.7 billion pounds.
